Arlington Police Ramp Up Battle Against Traffic Violations
The department says "Operation Safe Streets" has been a rousing success.

Traffic stops in Arlington have spiked three-fold during the last month, according to a media statement from the Arlington Police Department.
This recent crackdown on traffic violations has been the yield of a special initiative from the department dubbed, “Operation Safe Streets,” which launched in early April.
“This enhanced traffic enforcement initiative is aimed at proactively enforcing traffic laws with the goal of increasing safety for all who make use of the roadways in town,” said Police Chief Frederick Ryan in the statement.

These violations have consisted of 92 for failing to adhere to stop lights, 64 tickets for speeding, 57 for crosswalk law disobedience, and nine tickets for impeded driving.
This department-wide rally against traffic violations has also led to an arrest during an in-process breaking and entering, a significant drug bust, and the arrest of a driver with a larceny warrant out, according to police.
“Operation Safe Streets” calls officers to make routine traffic stops, both to enforce laws and increase police visibility in multiple locations in Arlington.
