Broadway Market Window Smasher Caught, Say Police
An officer on the lookout for traffic violations caught a presumptive burglar instead, according to police.

According to Arlington Police, their Operation Safe Streets initiative yielded unexpected but welcome results on Tuesday night, when an officer deployed to watch for traffic violations observed a man walking away from an apparently recently-broken-into Broadway Market.
Fifty-five-year-old Glen Kerivan, of Arlington, has been charged with breaking and entering and destruction/vandalism of property.

Police say he was spotted exiting the neighborhood convenience store while its alarmed blared around 9:45 p.m. Surveillance footage from the scene allegedly shows Kerivan smashing the store’s window, entering the establishment, and attempting, but failing, to jostle open the cash register before making a hasty exit.
“Our officer responded appropriately to the incident, and his quick response resulted in a successful arrest,” said Police Chief Frederick Ryan, in a statement.
