Crime Log: Brawl Breaks Out Between Students and Staff At Girls' School

The following information comes from the Arlington Police Department.

Crime log, Thursday, April 30

  • I.D. Theft/Bogus Checks, 10:20 a.m., TD Bank/Massachusetts Avenue

A false check for $496 was cashed at the Arlington TD Bank, according to a man’s statement to police. The alleged culprit cashed two other checks mocked up to appear issued from the the reporting party in Cambridge and Brighton.

  • Wallet Found/Returned, 5:22 p.m., Capitol Theatre

An employee at the Capitol Theatre found a brown wallet on the sidewalk, and brought it to the police station without opening it. The wallet and its owner were reunited at 8:30 p.m.

  • Fight, 9:39 p.m., Hillside Avenue

A skirmish broke out between residents and staff of a youth group home, which had ended by the time police arrived.

The staff told officers that two students were outside being insubordinate, and lashed out when confronted by the institution’s employees.

The hostilities snowballed until six students total were fighting staff, and their alleged actions included punching, biting, and striking staff with a stolen set of keys via swinging them from a lanyard. Staffers declined medical care, but some are pressing charges against their alleged assailants.

One of the students involved was having difficulty breathing, and was taken to Cambridge City Hospital.
