The following information comes from the Arlington Police Department.

Crime Log, Friday, May 1
- Hit and Run, 5:54 a.m., 23 Mass. Ave./CVS
A driver headed east on Massachusetts Avenue says a car slammed into him from behind at the Lake Street traffic signal. When the driver got out to inspect the damage, the allegedly offending driver sped off.
The aggrieved driver chased the supposed hit-and-runner long enough to write down the vehicle’s license plate. When police scanned the plate, it led them to a residence in Woburn. Mysteriously, Woburn Police could not locate a motor vehicle at that residence.

- Shoplifting, Helena’s, 397 Mass. Ave., 2:41 p.m.
A shopper allegedly sped away from a store with two pairs of jeans she had not paid for. Her license plate was reported to police, and when stopped, the suspect said she had not stolen a thing.
Officers pointed out two neatly-folded pairs of jeans in the back of her car, and the suspect said her sister had bought those jeans for her during a trip to the Cape. When officers returned the jeans to the store, an employee confirmed that these were, in fact, the stolen jeans.
- Moped/Car Accident, Lake Street/Wilson Avenue, 6:14 p.m.
A woman on a moped scooter inadvertedly crashed into a Lexus sedan that was turning left onto Wilson Avenue. The moped’s driver said her legs hurt, but declined further medical evaluation or transport to the hospital. The sedan suffered minor damage. Damage to the moped was more significant.
- Accusations of Stolen Pants and Shoes/Harassment, Old Colony Lane, 9 p.m.
A woman came to the police station to report a past acquaintance had come to her house and demanded to search the premises for allegedly stolen pants and shoes, which the reporting party denied having.
The reporting party said this is not the first time the former acquaintance - who she met through a church they used to attended - has harassed her in such a way.
The alleged harasser was contacted by police, and claimed the reporting party has been breaking into her house and taking her belongings. Police told her she’s supposed to get in touch with them if she believes crimes are occurring. The alleged harasser refused to give police her date of birth. Make of that what you will.
