Designated Driver Gets Arrested in Arlington

Ruben Quinonez, of Roxbury, was charged with speeding.

Talk about reverse karma.

A Roxbury man was arrested on an outstanding warrant in Arlington on Sunday while providing designated driver duties for a woman - quite possibly a friend - whose car he was driving.

Ruben Quinonez, 31, of Roxbury, has also been charged with speeding.

Arlington Police say they observed a car driven by Quinonez going 45 mph in a 30 mph zone on Broadway around 9:30 p.m.

Upon pulling him over and informing him the reason for the stop, police discovered the car was registered to the woman in the passenger seat, who had clearly had too much fun that evening to safely drive.

They also discovered Quinonez had a default failure to appear in court warrant out for his arrest in Roxbury, which he was already aware of. Quinonez was nonetheless arrested. As his passenger could not drive, her father was called in to drive the car home.

Quinonez was later released on bail.
