Elizabeth Homan Selected As Arlington's Next Superintendent
Homan, an assistant superintendent in Waltham, was approved by the School Committee last week.
ARLINGTON, MA — The School Committee voted last week to name Elizabeth Homan the next superintendent of the Arlington Public Schools. The vote was 6-1, with School Committee member Paul Schlichtman opposed.
Homan is currently in her third year as assistant superintendent in Waltham. She is expected to assume her new role in July, succeeding retiring superintendent Kathleen Bodie.
School Committee Chair Jane Morgan said Homan has worked to align curriculum and establish professional development to narrow the achievement gap in Waltham. She also led the district's efforts to address COVID-19 and incorporate student wellness and academic progress during the pandemic, Morgan said.
