He joined the Navy in 1944 on his18th birthday and remained steadfast in his pride of service and country. He drew great satisfaction from his reputation as an expert in the field of truck refrigeration, but his world revolved around his family. Born June 5, 1926, the first year of the annual S. S. Cosmas and Damian feast, and married Mary, the love of his life, on September 26, 1948 during that year’s feast. After her death in 2004, he rarely missed his daily visit to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Daniel’s name to the S. S. Cosmas and Damian Society, 17 Porter St., Cambridge, MA 02141.
