Police Log: High-Speed, Early Morning Car Chase, and the Arlington PD Might Have Your Keys
The following information comes from the Arlington Police Department.

Crime Log, Saturday, May 9
- Stolen Motor Vehicle Driven Recklessly, With No Lights On, 2.a.m., Mystic Street/Stowecroft Road
Police say they spotted a 2010 brown Jeep Liberty traveling with no lights on - which is both illegal and extremely dangerous in the wee morning hours.
When authorities attempted to pull the car over, the driver pulled a U turn and sped off.

A chase ensued, in which officers chased the jeep down Essex Street, Kimball Road, Victoria Road, and several side streets. Eventually, the jeep - which officers had determined was stolen - drove into a dead end at Stowecroft Road.
The driver put the jeep in neutral, and fled on foot. The slant of the road caused the vehicle to drift backward and knock over a fire hydrant, which covered the suspect’s flight just long enough for him to evade officers.

A search of the jeep yielded a duffel bag containing a spring-handle knife, a stun gun, and a credit card, all of which have been taken as evidence.
Police have identified a suspect, and issued a warrant charging him with carrying a dangerous weapon, operating with a suspended license, larceny of a motor vehicle, operating without headlights at night, and a one way street violation.
Set of Keys Found, 9:39 a.m., Thorndike Field/101 Margaret Street
- Presumably while walking a dog, a resident found a set of keys on the ground. The keys, which including a car key, were returned to the police department, and were sitting at the station’s front desk as of Monday.
