Police: Man Charged with Punching Woman Over Money

A man was charged with striking a woman after she refused to give him money.
Police said they arrested Juan Espinosa of 1171 Boylston St. and charged him with assault and battery.
Boston Police responded to a report of an assault and battery in progress on Boylston Street about 1:17 p.m. Thursday.

When the officers arrived on the scene, they found the victim who was crying with visible swelling on her cheek. The woman told police that she was arguing with a man when the argument turned violent.
According to the report, the man asked the woman for money and she refused. The woman said that at this point, the man swung at her and made contact with her cheek with his fist. The victim refused medical attention.

Police reported that the suspect said that the two had only had a verbal argument and that nothing violent took place.
