It was a good Tuesday for Ed Markey in Back Bay.

Voters in Back Bay went to the polls on Tuesday for the special election that saw Congressman Edward Markey (D-Malden) beat businessman and former U.S. Navy SEAL Gabriel Gomez (R-Cohasset).
Markey won Back Bay big over Gomez and third party candidate Richard Heos of Woburn of the Twelve Visions Party. In Boston overall, unofficial totals had Markey taking 76 percent of the vote to Gomez's 23 percent and Heos getting under 1 percent.
Turnout in Boston was just shy of 25 percent, according to the city election department.
Here's how the voting shook out in Back Bay's precincts:
WARD 5 PRECINCT 6: Markey: 288 (59.50 percent) Gomez: 195 (40.29 percent) Heos: 0 Write-ins: 1 (0.21 percent)
WARD 5 PRECINCT 7: Markey: 346 (63.37 percent) Gomez: 195 (36.26 percent) Heos: 1 (0.18 percent) Write-ins: 1 (0.18 percent)
WARD 5 PRECINCT 8: Markey: 325 (67.15 percent) Gomez: 159 (32.85 percent) Heos: 0
WARD 5 PRECINCT 9: Markey: 400 (65.90 percent) Gomez: 202 (33.28 percent) Heos: 2 (0.33 percent) Write-ins: 4 (0.49 percent)
