Remembered as “a man of the neighborhoods,” thousands across the state — including current Mayor Martin Walsh, Gov. Deval Patrick and Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley — reached out with support in the form of formal statements and notes on social media. (Funeral services are expected to be announced soon; Patch will provide that information as it becomes available.)
What’s more, a 2013 Boston Globe survey revealed that Menino had a 74 percent approval rating at the time, with about half of respondents saying they had met him personally during his time as mayor, according to the Globe.
