Charlie Baker Releases Information on Energy Efficiency Projects

Twenty-four projects save the State over $100,000.

BEACON HILL — The Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM) touted the completion of 24 energy efficiency projects at state sites in a statement. The administration announced the completion of the Plum Island Shellfish Purification plant, along with 23 other efficiency projects in state facilities, which will save taxpayers $159,000. The projects are intended to take place at small sites with quick turnaround time.

“The Simple Fix initiative brings together commonsense solutions from across state government for the benefit of all taxpayers and ratepayers,” said Governor Charlie Baker. “The Commonwealth is a national leader in energy efficiency and clean energy innovation and our administration is committed to ensuring that Massachusetts takes full advantage of the cost and energy savings currently available.”

The 24 sites received over $230,000 in utility incentives, in addition to a $1.07 million investment by the Commonwealth, with the energy savings surpassing total investment in seven years. The projects are projected to reduce electricity consumption by more than 865,000kWh annually, equivalent to the electricity use of 114 Massachusetts homes.
