Boston Native Considered for Department of Homeland Security Head
Retired Gen. John F. Kelly is reportedly a leading contender for the job.

Retired Marine General and Boston native John F. Kelly is reportedly among the leading choices to head the Department of Homeland Security under President-elect Donald Trump.
A 2011 article in the Boston Globe describes Kelly as a "Boston native, combat veteran, three-star general, and senior military adviser to Defense Secretary Leon Panetta," the son of a hard-working Brighton postal worker. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1976, according to his biography on the Department of Defense website.
Politico reports Monday that Kelly, 66, has "emerged as the top contender to lead President-elect Donald Trump’s Department of Homeland Security, according to three sources close to the transition."
