City to Take Down Copley Marathon Memorial

Boston Globe reports items at the memorial will be archived by the city after Tuesday.

After more than two months, the makeshift Boston Marathon bombings memorial in Copley Square will be removed this coming Tuesday morning and will be placed in the city archives in West Roxbury, according to a report by the Boston Globe.

Earlier this week, Boston Mayor Thomas Menino sent a letter to survivors and the families of victims informing them items at the memorial will be cleaned and archived alongside items that were removed back in May when rain was about to set in.

The Globe reported the dismantling of the memorial is a move Menino wrote would "help us all look to the future." In addition, the Globe reported Menino will be forming a committee that will oversee the process of making more permanent memorial.
