Elizabeth Warren on Scott Brown for VA Secretary: 'You Bet I'd Support That'

She bested him in their senate race, but now Sen. Elizabeth Warren is all in support of Scott Brown heading to Washington — in a different role, of course.

The former Massachusetts Senator and Army National Guard colonel has been bandied about as possible Department of Veterans Affairs secretary under President-elect Donald Trump. Brown, from Wrentham, now resides in New Hampshire.

In an interview Thursday with Boston Public Radio, Warren (to the surprise of many) was all for it.

“If Scott Brown is the nominee for Veterans Affairs, I have no doubt that he would put his heart and soul into trying to help veterans. And I would put my heart and soul into trying to help him do that. You bet I’d support that," she said. "You bet I would."

Brown, of course, is not the only potential cabinet pick with ties to the Bay State.

But despite a measure of respect for former governor Mitt Romney, Warren says she still on the fence when it comes to him as possible Secretary of State.

She told the radio station, “I’d like to hear more, but I think Mitt Romney is a smart man, and I think he’s got a pretty level-headed view of the world. Can I just hold until we—until I get a chance to see and meet the nominees?”

That uncertain interest is far more supportive than her take on other nominees. Warren has spent this week been excoriating Trump over picks like Treasury Secretary nominee Steve Mnuchin.

How does she calm down in the midst of all this?

"I do a lot of walking right now," she told radio hosts.
