Fox News Refutes Andrea Tantaros' Scott Brown Allegations

The media company, in a court filing Monday, called its former program host "an opportunist... not a victim."

BOSTON, MA — Fox News on Monday refuted allegations made against the company by former program host Andrea Tantaros, including her claim that former Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown inappropriately spoke with and touched her after one of his show appearances.

In a court filing, the media company called Tantaros' claims an "unverified complaint (that) bears all the hallmarks of the 'wannabe'" and is "filled with faleshoods." Fox News asked that the court compel Tantaros to continue arbitration proceedings with the company, which suspended her for a writing a book in violation of her employment contract, according to Fox News' complaint.

In addition to defending recently departed CEO Roger Ailes, the Fox News filing disputes Tantaros' allegations against Brown, who has appeared numerous times on "Outnumbered," a program she co-hosted.

When the allegations came to light in a New York Supreme Court lawsuit last week, Brown vigorously denied them. Fox News backed up his assertions in Monday's filing, depicting Brown as one of several innocent targets caught up in Tantaros' quest for publicity.

"Not to be outdone by anyone, (Tantaros) contends that she was sexually harassed by an ever-shifting collection of employees at Fox News," the filing states. "The complaint's allegations of sexual harassment by each of several men are false."

According to the filing, "Fox News has already investigated all of these accusations and found no evidence to support them." That includes Brown, according to the court document.

"His interactions with Tantaros were professional and cordial, and in full view of other personnel and talent," the filing states, echoing Brown's own rebuttal last week.

Tantaros suit alleges Brown "suggestively" made remarks to and inappropriately touched her after his appearance on a show she co-hosted in 2015, illustrating what she believes to be company executives' pattern of ineffective response.

Her suit states in part: "Fox News masquerades as defender of traditional family values, but behind the scenes, it operates like a sex-fueled, Playboy Mansion-like cult, steeped in intimidation, indecency, and misogyny."

Fox News at the time did not respond to multiple news outlets' requests for comment, and on Monday emailed a copy of its court filing to Patch and other media.
