Hillary Clinton 'Only' 13 Points Ahead of Donald Trump: New Massachusetts Poll
Anywhere else, that would be a hefty margin, but the UMass/WBZ poll stood out to some Bay State political observers.
BOSTON, MA — Few politicians would find a 13-point lead worrisome, but some Massachusetts political observers are pointing out the relatively narrow gap between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump here, according to a new poll.
WBZ delved into poling history to report:
"Barack Obama carried Massachusetts by a 23-point margin in 2012, and a 25-point spread in 2008. Clinton’s husband Bill won here in 1996 by 33-percent."

Clinton, by contrast, has 46 percent of the state's support, compared to Trump's 33 percent, as expressed in the 700-person survey conducted by the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and WBZ Radio.
Writes WBZ's Jon Keller, "It’s the same story as elsewhere across the country. Her favorability ratings are way underwater."

Of those polled, 56 percent said they were either very or somewhat unfavorable toward Clinton. Fortunately for her, voters' feelings are even more negative toward Trump, who is viewed unfavorably by 66 percent of those polled.
The telling comparison, WBZ reports, is voters' feelings toward President Obama — view unfavorably by only 46 percent of those polled.
