It's Been a Week: What Do You Think of the Longfellow Detour?

Is the bridge closure driving you crazy? Vent your feelings here.

The detour that will impact Boston-to-Cambridge traffic for the next three-and-a-half years has now been in affect for one week.

Rehabilitation work will close the historic Longfellow Bridge to vehicle traffic heading from Boston to Cambridge until early 2017.

It has certainly thrown a wrench in commuter plans, ones who normally use the bridge for work everyday.

In fact, we observed that Cambridge-to-Boston traffic was light on the bridge this week, considering that travel is reduced to one lane. It seem like travelers may be avoiding the bridge altogether.

The detour for Cambridge-bound travelers takes them over the Craigie Bridge onto Land Boulevard, where they can access Memorial Drive and the rest of Route 3.

What have you thought of the detour so far? Has it changed your commuting plans significantly? Are you more likely to find an alternative means of travel, or going a different way like taking the Harvard Bridge? Or are you so fed up you can't even see straight? Leave your thoughts in the comments.
