Primary Voter Registration Day is TODAY

Here's how to find out if you're registered to vote in Boston, and what to do if you're not.

BOSTON, MA — The State Primary election is nearly here, and residents must be registered by Friday at 5 p.m. in order to vote.

The state primary is Thursday, Sept. 8.

Voters citywide must be registered by Aug. 19 at 5 p.m. The city clerk's office will be open until 5 p.m. Friday to register voters. Unenrolled residents can still vote in the State Primary Election.

How to Register

Voters can register in three ways:

  1. You can register online by clicking here. Voters must have a valid driver's license, learner's permit, or non-driver ID issued by the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles. You must also have a signature on file with the RMV
  2. You can register through the mail by downloading this registration form or picking it up at Boston City Hall's Election Department, Room 241. You can mail the completed form to: Election Department, 1 City Hall Square, Room 241, Boston, MA, 02201.
  3. You can go to the Election Department in Room 241, open weekdays from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  4. You can bring the completed form to the City Hall To Go Truck.

Absentee Ballots

Absentee ballots must be made and writing, signed by the voter and received by the City Clerk no later than 12 p.m. on Sept. 7. Click here for an absentee ballot application.
