Senator Ken Donnelly Undergoes Brain Surgery

The Arlington Democrat is now "resting comfortable" after the sudden surgery.

BOSTON, MA — Absent from the State House for undisclosed medical reasons this weekend, Sen. Ken Donnelly (D-Arlington) emerged from reportedly successful brain surgery Tuesday night.

According to a Facebook post, Donnelly was admitted to Massachusetts General Hospital Sunday night for "difficulties," and doctors indicated surgery would be likely with 48 hours. Fellow lawmakers offered him prayers and encouragement from the floor, as they worked against a legislative deadline Sunday night.

A followup post late Tuesday said Donnelly "underwent successful brain surgery today where doctors removed a tumor. His medical team is very pleased with the outcome of the surgery and he is resting comfortably."
