The city's assistant corporation counsel said a $25,000 raise would violate state ethics law.

At a recent city hall meeting, Boston’s Assistant Corporation Counsel Henry Luthin said the law prohibits government officials from “voting on matters in which they or their families have a financial interest,” NECN reported, adding that the last time councilors received a raise was in 2006.
