Special Primary Today For 8th Suffolk House Seat

Voters on Beacon Hill will head to the polls Tuesday to cast their ballots in the special primary election to replace Marty Walz in the 8th Suffolk County House of Representatives district.
Two candidates are seeking the Democratic nomination, Joshua Dawson and Jay Livingstone. There are no Republicans seeking the seat.

Livingstone is a lawyer who lives on Beacon Hill while Dawson, a Back Bay resident, is the former executive director of State Treasurer Steve Grossman’s political committee and former legislative and budget director for State Senator Thomas P. Kennedy (D-Brockton).
The seat is vacant because Walz resigned to become the new Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts president and CEO.

The 8th Suffolk district includes parts of Back Bay, Beacon Hill, West End, Fenway and Cambridge.
In Boston, the voting precincts today will be: Ward 3, Precinct 5; Ward 4, Precinct 6; and Ward 5, Precincts 3 through 9 and 11.
