State Directs $270K in Unclaimed Property to Jimmy Fund

The state treasurer joined the Jimmy Fund radio telethon to help "strike out cancer."

BOSTON, MA — The state treasury department helped push The Jimmy Fund's Radio Telethon fundraising totals above $500,000 Monday, with a donation from the state's unclaimed property division.

According to a social media post from Massachusetts Treasurer Deborah Goldberg, her department's Unclaimed Property Division gave $201,879.83 during this year's annual radio telethon, where proceeds support the work of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

According to the post, that division has contributed $1.05 million to the fund since 2006.

In its 15th year, the Jimmy Fund's annual radio fundraiser is the work of WEEI Sports Radio Network, the Boston Red Sox, and NESN. Over the past fourteen years, the event has raised more than $40 million for research and care at Dana-Farber, according to the Jimmy Fund.
