What's Open, Closed on Memorial Day in Beacon Hill
A quick guide to city closures for the May 27 holiday.

Memorial Day, recognized on the last Monday in May, is a day to remember the men and women who served their country as members of the United States military and have since died, whether in battle or after coming home.
There are several Memorial Day observances planned around Boston today.
At 8 a.m., there will be a service at the Fogg-Roberts American Legion Post 78, 56 Harvard Ave., in Hyde Park. From there, participants will march to a Mass at Most Precious Blood Parish, 43 Maple St., and then return to the post for the start of a tour of local veteran’s squares. The procession will end up at the Civil War Memorial at Fairview Cemetery for the closing ceremony at 11 a.m.

The neighborhood of Brighton will host a Memorial Day observance from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, 2060 Commonwealth Ave.
And tonight, starting at 6:30 p.m., Boston will welcome a new Memorial Day tradition—a free outdoor concert at Christopher Columbus Park, 110 Atlantic Ave., in the North End. “Remembrance 2013: A Musical Tribute to Our Heroes” will feature the Metropolitan Wind Symphony and the Boston City Singers. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and to use public transportation.
