It was learned this week that the developer of the controversial Belmont Uplands apartment development, O'Neill Properties, has been in discussion with town officials over the past six weeks in preparation of requesting a building permit "in early fall" for the 299 unit project on the Cambridge/Belmont line.

Former Selectman Paul Solomon's group that seeks to bring the Community Preservation Act to Belmont has secured half of the required signatures needed to place the measure on November's town ballot.
