Cup Cake Celebration Sunday

Yum Bunnies Cakery wants to say thanks to customers, community with a free cup cake.

the speciality cake making shop on Belmont Street, is having a free cupcake day on Sunday, August 22, from noon to 4 p.m. to thank all of my customers for their support.  

"We will also have face painting for the kids with Violet the Clown and some photo 'move that cake' fun and some other give-aways," said Jessa Sahakian, owner and chief cake maker at the store located at 241 Belmont St.

Now in her third year in Belmont, the 28-year-old Watertown native is known for creating unique and highly creative cakes for any celebration, from traditional ornate wedding cakes to those on the fanciful side. Examples of her work can be found at www.yumbunnies.com

In addition to cakes, Sahakian's cupcakes have their own fan base, a lucky added product that came about since Sahakian didn't want to throw out her excess cake batter.

"I really don't understand it," she noted, explaining that the cup cakes are hits during Easter when she decorates them as chicks.

And when you come for the celebration, you can ask Sahakian about her cakes appearances in movies such as "Pink Panther II" and "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past," in which her cake (one of nine she made for the production) has a pivotal role in the Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner film.
