Police Log: Harvard Square Hubby Under Arrest

Incidents involving the Belmont Police in the week ending August 1.

Warranted Arrest

July 26 – At 11:18 a.m., police were sent to Jeannette Avenue to arrest a Belmont man on an outstanding warrant. William Sacca, 59, of 42 Jeannette Avenue, Belmont was arrested for intimidation of a witness and threats to commit a crime.

Unattended Children at the Post Office

July 28 – At 12:56 p.m., police were called to the post office at 405 Concord Ave. on a report of two young children left unattended in a Subaru near the office. But once they arrived, the car had taken off.       

Breaking and Entering ... But Nothing Taken

July 29 – At 12:27 p.m., a Brookside Avenue resident called police for a possible breaking and entering in progress. The man arrived home to find his backyard fence gate open that he said was strange. He then saw two back doors of the house pried open. He immediately called police. Officers and then detectives were sent to the scene but did not find anyone inside. The homeowner will notify police if he discovers anything missing.

A Prescription for Arrest

July 29 – At 5:44 p.m., a man attempted to pass a false prescription at Shore Drug at 297 Belmont St. The paperwork looked faked to the clerk and when she finally spoke to the doctor's office, they said they never made the prescription. Police told the clerk to call when the man attempted to pick up the package. But he hasn't showed up since.

Harvard Square Hubby Taken To Jail

July 29 – At 6:58 p.m., officers were dispatched to a Baker Street residence for a possible A&B. When they arrived a mother of three who said there has been an ongoing domestic dispute met them. She said she and her children were at home when her husband came by. After telling him that she was set to do, the husband grabbed her arm causing bruising. He also told her that she "was not allowed to leave" the house. When he finally left, she called police. They explained her rights under the domestic violence laws and she was granted an emergency restraining order. She advised police that her husband was likely at the MBTA's Harvard Square station. He was arrested and the wife and children went to stay with friends. Kevin Hovanesian, 42, of 27 Baker St. was arrested for domestic assault and battery.

T-Shirt Man Taken Home

August 1 – At 12:35 a.m., a report of a young man was intoxicated at the corner of Belmont and Marlborough. Police found the man in shorts and a T-shirt sitting on the sidewalk. He was transported home.

Drive Runs Off, Passenger Taken Into Custody

August 1 – At 11:25 p.m., police units were called for a single vehicle accident at the corner of Clark Street and Royal Road. There they found a car in a ditch. The vehicle was unoccupied by there was a group of young men and women next to it. When approached, three young women told police they did not know who was driving the car when it ended up in a ditch. Later it was learned that the driver was a boyfriend of one of the girls who ran away after the accident occurred. One of the group, a 17-year-old, was unsteady on her feet and uncooperative. She was placed under protective custody.
