BOSTON — Massachusetts State Police said officers forced a group of about 30 children on bicycles who rode through Boston's O'Neill Tunnel Saturday out of the tunnel, but didn't chase or arrest any of them. It's illegal to walk, bike or ride a horse on any of the highways in the area.

"It's trespassing," said Trooper Dustin Fitch. "It's an arrestable offense."

The group went into the tunnel near Leverett Circle, and at least one driver inside the tunnel recorded video, which shows them peddling and some popping wheelies as they make their way through. Troopers said they caught up to the group and forced them out of the tunnel at the South Station exit.

"Once out of the tunnel they dispersed and fled. We didn’t pursue for obvious safety reasons," said state police spokesman Fitch in an emailed statement.

MassDOT said State Police requested they not release any of the public footage.
