BRAINTREE, MA — The Braintree Police Department released a photo of a car they pulled over Wednesday, in something of a splintery situation.

"In today's episode of 'What could go wrong,' this motorist was stopped after getting off Rt. 3 with four eight-foot 2x4s dangling out their Nissan," the department said in a social media post.

In the photo, lumber is seen protruding out the left window several feet, with some pieces going straight through the car, window to window.

"Not only is this dangerous, if the vehicle were involved in a crash, the 2x4s would instantly become deadly projectiles," police said.

The operator was cited for an unsecured load and had to make other arrangements for getting the lumber home.

"While we're on the subject, we wood like to hit on some key points," the post said:

Everything not secured inside a vehicle will continue to travel the speed traveling until stopped by an imoveable [sic] object.
