This MA Baseball Team Is 1 Step Closer To The Little League World Series

Here's how to follow the team as they try to clinch a spot in the Little League World Series in the upcoming New England regional.

BRAINTREE, MA — The road to Williamsport leads through Bristol, Connecticut for the Massachusetts State Champion Braintree Little League team.

Braintree's 12A American Little League team defeated Walpole in the state championship game over the weekend to keep its undefeated postseason moving along.

The game was close, as only a solo home run was the difference between the two teams in the 1-0 victory.

The team will now head to Bristol for the New England regional, where it will face the Maine state champions on Saturday at 1 p.m.

That game will be shown on ESPN+. A championship game is set for Aug. 7.

The winner of that game will clinch a spot in the Little League World Series.

Mayor Erin Joyce sent the team a message on social media after the victory:

"As a proud Little League mom myself, I was happy to watch our Braintree American U12s clinch the State Little League title this morning against Walpole! This incredible team has put in so much hard work all summer, and it truly paid off. The photo of the "moms" perfectly captures not just the kids' success, but the unwavering support of all the families cheering them on! As the final play unfolded, the moms were on the sidelines filled with emotions—anxiety and tears of joy! We can’t wait to see this team continue their journey in Bristol, CT and beyond.
