Braintree Retail Hours Announced For Columbus Day, Veteran's Day

Retail establishments won't be able to open until 1 p.m. on Veteran's Day, a move at least one local official supports.

BRAINTREE, MA — Retail store hours have been announced for Massachusetts businesses on upcoming holidays, including Columbus Day and Veteran's Day.

There are no restrictions on hours on Columbus Day, meaning normal business hours can be conducted on Oct. 14.

However, retail businesses won't be allowed to open before 1 p.m. on Veteran's Day, Nov. 11.

In Braintree, Police Chief Timothy Cohoon said he understands this may make things more difficult for business owners but supports the decision.

"This is a day we celebrate Veterans and honor them for serving our country," said Cohoon. "We should honor those who have died for our freedom as well as the men and women who serve and have served to make the United States a safer place."

The retail schedule doesn't apply to restaurants or service stations.
