Braintree Trash Stickers Pay Homage to Marathon Victims, First Responders
The new Braintree trash stickers proclaim "Braintree stands strong with Boston Strong."

The 2013-2014 Braintree trash stickers have a new color scheme and message that honors the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing and recognizes first responders.
The yellow sticker with blue writing mirrors the Boston Athletic Association colors that have become a symbol of "Boston Strong" and the One Fund. The sticker, which also has the town seal, expires June 30, 2014.
The sticker reads, "Braintree stands strong with Boston Strong. We are one with our neighbors and our extended family. Braintree citizens stand strong with the victims of the 2013 Boston Marathon tragedy and value the heroic efforts of the first responders."
"We wanted this to be a reminder that we, as a community, stand together with Greater Boston," said Mayor Joseph Sullivan.
Sullivan said the Town of Braintree sent nine first responders to the bombing site and to help in the subsequent manhunt.
In the past, the trash sticker was used to promote the town's beautification efforts. The attacks prompted a change in message, Sullivan explained.
"This year, we thought it was more appropriate to send a message of commitment and resolve," said Sullivan.
The trash sticker, which goes into effect in July, is $160 for most residents and $105 for seniors. The price has been steady for the past two years, said Sullivan.
