Braintree's St. Thomas More Church Property Could Have A Buyer

A local developer has plans to buy the property once occupied by the church. Here's what to know.

BRAINTREE, MA — The property once occupied for over 80 years by the St. Thomas More Church is said to have a potential buyer.

The Patriot Ledger reports that local developer George Clements has plans to buy the 15-acre property, which could be 26 homes.

St. Thomas More closed its doors in late November after allowing worshippers in for final prayers and walkthroughs.

In addition to the land, the property includes a rectory and a building that formerly was used as a school. Assessors' records value the property at $8 million.

When the church first closed it was reported that no clear buyer had emerged, but Mayor Charles Kokoros said that the decision would be based on what's best for Braintree as a community.
