Committee to Discuss if Town Councilors Should Get More Compensation
5 Things: A run-down of events and other useful information for your life in Braintree on Nov. 12, 2013.

1. Among other agenda items Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. in the upstairs Johnson Chambers at Town Hall, the Committee on Ways & Means will discuss whether councilors who sit on the town's most active committee should receive an additional stipend.
The discussion, put forward by Ways & Means Chair Paul "Dan" Clifford, includes the possibility of increasing the stipend for those who serve on Ways & Means because that committee oversees the town's budget and meets many more times each year than any other committee. It could be an incentive for more participation on the committee, Clifford said last week.
Councilors currently earn $5,000 per year. The council president makes $7,500. They are also eligible for health insurance through the town and a 25 percent pension after 10 years.
The Board of Assessors will also be at the meeting Tuesday night to talk about the fiscal year 2014 tax levy.
2. The Board of License Commissioners meets at 2 p.m. in the Johnson Chambers at Town Hall. The agenda includes manager changes for Legal Sea Foods and UNO Chicago Grill and a salvage yard license request for McConnell Enterprises at 60 Garden Park.
3. The Planning Board meets at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at Town Hall. Click here for a full agenda.
4. Yep, time to bust out your snow shovels, winter hats and gloves. The National Weather Service is predicting snow before noon Tuesday, just in time for the morning commute. Turning to rain and then sun gradually in the afternoon. Tuesday night should be clear with a low around – eek – 22 degrees.
