BRAINTREE, MA — Braintree will celebrate the East Middle School renovation with a groundbreaking ceremony Friday.
Town and state officials, including Treasurer Deborah Goldberg, will be at the school at 11:30 a.m. to mark the occasion.
The $83 million project is part of a plan to renovate and build an addition at both middle schools in Braintree. Plans call for the creation of two academies within one building. Fifth grade will move to the middle school and occupy one side of the school with sixth grade, while seventh and eighth grade will take the other half of the school. The school should be ready for the 2020-21 school year.
