FBI Report: Violent Crime Down in Braintree
How much violent crime was reported in Braintree last year?

Braintree reported less violent crime last year than in years past, according new statistics released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
According to the report, 30 violent crimes were reported in Braintree in 2012. The number is down from 60 in 2010.
The FBI's annual Uniform Crime Report includes information submitted by local law enforcement agencies. The information is compiled and released to the public in the fall of the year that follows the reported year. Violent crime, as defined by the report, includes murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault.
Boston tops the list of violent crimes in cities in Massachusetts with 5,266. The top five is rounded out by Worcester, Springfield, Brockton, and New Bedford.
Braintree reported the 96th most violent crimes among Massachusetts towns.
According to the statistics, no murders were reported in Braintree in 2012. Other crimes included two forcible rapes, 15 robberies, 13 aggravated assaults, 133 burglaries, and 530 instances of larceny or theft.
There were 700 property crimes reported in Braintree in 2012.
