Local Shop Hosts 'Braintree Day' With Author John Dennehy

The Enchanted Gift Basket is in South Braintree Square and offers customized gift baskets, pre-packaged items and specialty toys.

The Enchanted Gift Basket, a gift and toy shop across from French's Common, is hosting "Braintree Day" on Friday, Nov. 15, featuring a book signing with author John Dennehy.

Dennehy, former chair of the Board of Selectmen and past president of the Braintree Historical Society, will sign copies of his book Images of America: Braintree from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The book, published by Arcadia, offers a look at Braintree's past through 200 photos, from private and town collections and the historical society. Dennehy will also sign about 25 copies of the book for sale after the event, Enchanted Gift Basket owner Diana Nessralla said.

They will be available in her shop as stand-alone items, as well as part of Braintree-theme gift baskets, which also include customized scented soap, hand towels and other items.

"First and foremost, I'm a history buff," said Nessralla, explaining why she planned the event.

Nessralla, a member of the Board of Directors of the Braintree Historical Society, said the town always seems to fly under the radar as an historically-notable town, even though it is the original home of presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams, along with John Hancock.

The Enchanted Gift Basket is located at 826 Washington St. in South Braintree Square.
