Man Who Crashed Into State Police Cruiser Gave False Name: Police
Winston McGhee allegedly drove into a parked cruiser that was blocking the right lane of Interstate 93 in Braintree.

BRAINTREE, MA — A man charged with crashing into a state police cruiser Saturday gave a false name to police, authorities say.
Winston McGhee, 34, of Rockland, appeared in Quincy District Court Monday on charges of operating under the influence of liquor, furnishing a false identity to police, and striking an emergency vehicle. He was released on personal recognizance moments before he was taken to Plymouth Superior Court in Brockton for an unrelated case.
McGhee allegedly drove into a parked state police cruiser that was blocking the right lane of Interstate 93 in Braintree where a car fire was taking place. McGhee initially told police that he was 39-year-old Irvin Capers of Dorchester.

The vehicle was unoccupied at the time of the crash and no injuries were reported.
A blood alcohol content test was not performed following the crash, resulting in an automatic license suspension for McGhee.

McGhee is due back in Quincy District Court Aug. 13.
