Mass. Lottery's Braintree Regional Office Plan Falls Through
The Lottery Commission voted to end negotiations to use part of their current office as a regional office once they move to Dorchester.

BRAINTREE, MA — Initial plans for the Massachusetts State Lottery to use part of their current Braintree headquarters as a regional office are no more.
While the Lottery announced that they would move their main office from 60 Colombian St. to Dorchester last October, they hoped to keep a regional presence in their current office. However, Jumbo Capital Management LLC, who sent the agency an offer to lease some of their current HQ, recently sent the Lottery and the Division of Capital Asset Management a revised rent schedule that called for an increase to cover costs related to improvements to be property. The Lottery says that new rent schedule would force them to pay 50 percent more in rent, according to State House News.
With word of the price hike, the Massachusetts Lottery Commission voted to end negotiations with Jumbo but remain open in case the Lottery decides to seek a lease extension. The current lease is set to expire in January.
