BRAINTREE, MA - Members of the Massachusetts State Police Underwater Dive Team scoured Sunset Lake in Braintree Wednesday for evidence that could be linked to an ongoing investigation of the killing of a Brockton teen in September but were unable to find anything, according to news reports.

The search was for evidence in "an ongoing investigation of a murder committed in September of 2021," according to the Plymouth County District Attorney's office. According to a news report Wednesday night, investigators will not be returning on Thursday to continue the effort.

Liedson Terry-Monteiro, 16, was fatally shot at a Brockton house party on Sprague Avenue on September of 2021. There have been no arrests in the case.

The mother of Terry-Monteiro, Natasha Terry, expressed hope on Wednesday that any evidence found could have led to closure about the slaying of her son.

"I just want to know; I want to see these people caught," Terry said. "I want to know who they are."

On the night Terry-Monteiro was shot, a family member told WHDH-TV he was at a house party while on a court-appointed curfew.

“You have kids that are on house arrest, on ankle bracelets. Who’s doing the job?" Natalianna Andrade-Terry, Terry-Monteiro's cousin, asked. "Who’s making sure they’re not leaving the house?”

A spokesperson for the Plymouth County District Attorney's Wednesday afternoon confirmed by phone to Patch that "the Massachusetts State Police Underwater Dive Team is searching for evidence in the ongoing investigation of a murder committed in September 2021 in Brockton." She did not say if the investigation was directly linked to Terry-Monteiro, but she did specify that the search was for evidence and not a body.

A news report at noon Wednesday said the search may be connected to the investigation of Terry-Monteiro, who was referenced as Monteiro-Terry in that story. His obituary refers to him as Terry-Monteiro. Subsequent reports have linked the search with a possible connection to this case.
