Thayer Public Library Offers Course For 'Lifelong Learners'

A partnership with UMass Boston allows them to bring an educational group for those aged 50 and over.

Education is not just for the young. That's the message of a program coming to Braintree's Thayer Public Library this fall, a partnership with UMass Boston.

It's called OLLI, short for Osher Lifelong Learner Institute. Here's how the library describes its mission:

OLLI's mission is to foster accessible lifelong learning, individual growth, and social connection for mature learners age 50+ by providing stimulating opportunities to enrich the intellectual, social, and cultural lives of members, regardless of educational background.

Membership isn't free, but those who sign up have access to courses, lectures, social events, theatrical shows, and field trips. There are no requirements to join, aside from being in the target demographic and an openness to new education opportunities.
