The town is looking to appoint a successor to serve until next year’s town election.
Now stepping aside, Raymond has served in Burlington for more than 50 years since 1971 when he was elected to a seat in Burlington’s representative town meeting. He has been on the Planning Board since April of 1990.

“I’ve never enjoyed working with anybody more,” Planning Board colleague Joseph Impemba said of Raymond following his announcement. “I’ve never respected, I’ve never admired someone more than Paul.”
Those interested in applying for Raymond’s now vacant seat should fill out a brief questionnaire available online. Applicants should send their questionnaire along with any questions by email to planning@burlington.gov. Applications are due on Aug. 1.
While electronic submissions are preferred, the town is also accepting hard copy applications at the Planning Department office during regular business hours.
The Planning Board and the Select Board will review applications in a joint meeting next month before making an appointment.
