BURLINTON, MA — In a cooperative effort to involve the voters in our communities in the Governor’s Council District 3 race, the Democratic Committees of Woburn, Bedford, Billerica, and Burlington will host a forum for the Democratic candidates for the Governor's Council District 3 race on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 7pm.

Prior to the start of the show, the Woburn Media Center will post a link to the actual video, usually about an hour before airing. It will also be recorded for viewing later. There will be no live studio audience.

Because there are no Republicans running for the Governor’s Councillor seat in District 3, the Democratic winner of the September 3 primary election will win the seat. The Democratic candidates are incumbent Marilyn Petitto Devaney and challenger Mara Dolan.

The Role of Governor’s Councillor: The Massachusetts Governor's Council is composed of eight individuals elected from districts; councilors are elected every 2 years. Burlington is one of 31 communities in District 3. The Council meets weekly to record advice and consent on warrants for the state treasury, pardons and commutations, and recording advice and consent to gubernatorial appointments such as judges, clerk-magistrates, public administrators, members of the Parole Board, Appellate Tax Board, Industrial Accident Board and Industrial Accident Reviewing Board, notaries, and justices of the peace.

The Burlington Democratic Town Committee would like to invite the Burlington community to submit a question for the forum. Questions should be submitted by April 27, 2024 to be considered. Due to time constraints, we cannot promise all questions will be asked. The form for submitting a question is available at the following link: woburndems.org/upcoming-events/
