Burlington Hiring: Temporary Police Dispatcher; Library Board of Trustees Recording Clerk

Burlington is currently hiring for two posiitons.

Under the general supervision of the Chief of Police, this position is responsible for providing all persons and public safety agencies with the highest quality of service by ensuring safe and efficient screening and processing of emergency and non-emergency calls for service.

  • Dispatch, document and track the status and safety of all law enforcement personnel.
  • Provide aid and support to field personnel by ensuring that messages are clear, concise and timely.
  • Maintain accurate and uniform documentation procedures for all dispatched activity and shall be familiar with the procedures for all other data recording and entry responsibilities assigned to the Communications Center.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalency.
  • Proficiency in speaking, reading and writing English.
  • Accurate typing of 30 words per minute is preferable.
  • Knowledge of the geography of the Town of Burlington is preferred.

This is a temporary position, 40-hours per week. The working hours will be 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM on a rotating schedule of 4 days on and 2 days off. Starting Salary at Grade 5, Step I of the BMEA Classification Plan is $20.75/hour.

Immediate opening for a part-time Recording Clerk. Duties include taking minutes of meetings, posting notices of meetings, and other related tasks. The candidate must be able to attend all Library Board of Trustee meetings and must become familiar with the Commonwealth of MA Ethics and Open Meeting Laws.The Library Board of Trustees typically holds 1 evening meeting each month. All meetings are open to the public, and are usually held on the second Thursday of each month beginning at 7:00pm. Starting hourly rate is $15.11. This position does not participate in the Town-benefits program.
