Burlington Hospital Receives Top Grade For Safety

One local hospital received a high grade in spring 2024 Hospital Safety Grades released Wednesday by a nonprofit watchdog group.

BURLINGTON, MA — One local hospital received the highest grade possible in The Leapfrog Group’s spring 2024 Hospital Safety Grades released Wednesday.

Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington received an "A" grade. This was up from a "B" in fall 2023.

The independent, nonprofit watchdog group assigned safety grades, ranging from “A” to “F,” for 3,000 general hospitals on how well they prevent medical errors, accidents and infections.

“We are incredibly proud of our A recognition,” Lahey President Susan Moffatt-Bruce said in a statement. “The tireless efforts of our clinicians and colleagues to ensure safe environments reflect our commitment to providing high-quality care."

  • 21 hospitals that earned “B” grades;
  • 19 hospitals that earned “C” grades;
  • 2 hospitals that earned “D” grades; and
