Burlington Papa Gino's, D'Angelo Donate $3K To Local Nonprofit
The restaurants recently opened as a combined location on Cambridge Street. They donated their first-day sales to charity.

BURLINGTON, MA — The Burlington-based People Helping People recently received a more than $3,000 donation from a newly combined Papa Gino’s/D’Angelo Grilled Sandwiches restaurant in town.
The two-in-one restaurant opened at a preexisting Papa Gino’s location at 179 Cambridge Street on Sept. 19, adding D’Angelo options.
While celebrating their opening, the restaurant opted to donate all of its Sept. 19 sales to People Helping People, which runs various efforts to support Burlington community members in need.

The restaurant ultimately inked a check for $3,258.84.
“We’re proud to support a vital community organization like People Helping People as they work tirelessly to support the area’s most vulnerable residents,” New England Authentic Eats, LLC Chief Experience Officer Deena McKinley said in a statement.

New England Authentic Eats is the parent company of both Papa Gino’s and D’Angelo.
People Helping People Food Pantry Director Jim Sheridan thanked Papa Gino’s and D’Angelo, highlighting ongoing food and emergency assistance needs in Burlington.
“This thoughtful donation helps us tremendously as we work to feed, house, clothe and meet other basic needs of our Burlington neighbors in need,” Sheridan said. “We’re looking forward to putting these funds to good use in our community!”
Money will support the People Helping People Food Pantry in addition to other People Helping People programs.
The food pantry serves between 150 and 200 eligible families per-month, according to this week’s donation announcement.
The pantry recently relocated to a new home on Murray Avenue in Burlington, celebrating a grand reopening in August.
Now added to Burlington’s Papa Gino’s site, D’Angelo has undergone a series of ups and downs in recent years. It shuttered roughly 100 stores in 2018 as its former parent company filed for bankruptcy.
About three years later, in November of last year, the chain was on the rebound, announcing a new plan to expand in New England and beyond.
