Burlington Police Plan Citizens’ Police Academy

Lesson topics will range from terrorism and emergency preparedness to Massachusetts criminal law and criminal procedure.

BURLINGTON, MA — Burlington community members will have a chance to get an inside look at the Burlington Police Department beginning in October through a planned Citizens’ Police Academy program.

The program is set to run on Wednesday nights from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. between Oct. 12 and Dec. 14. The 10 academy sessions will include training on everything from terrorism and emergency preparedness to Massachusetts criminal law and criminal procedure.

The program is open to anyone 16 and older, though 16 and 17-year-olds will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Participants will need to undergo a criminal background check and sign a CORI non-disclosure form.
