Caller Threatened To 'Do Harm' At Burlington Middle School: Police
Police said they have determined that a threat made against a middle school was not credible.

BURLINGTON, MA — An anonymous caller "expressed an intent to do harm" at Marshall Simonds Middle School on Friday afternoon, according to a Burlington police statement.
Police believe the threat was not credible.
Police and Burlington Public Schools "were made aware of a threat" made toward Marshall Simonds Middle School on Friday at 2:55 p.m., according to the statement.

"Safety at schools is of utmost importance to Burlington Police, and we will continue to investigate this incident and provide any updates as they arise," Burlington Police Capt. Daniel Hanafin said in a statement.
Police Chief Thomas Browne provided an update on the investigation Monday.

"Our investigation has progressed, and we have identified a small number of potential suspects in relation to the phone call threat on Friday," Browne said in a statement. "We remain confident with our earlier assessment of there being no credible and ongoing threat within the school district."
He added that "out of an abundance of caution" police will provide a visible presence at all schools Tuesday.
"I recognize that this posture may cause concern to some parents, but our officers are there to support the work of the schools," Browne said in a statement.
Burlington Public Schools Superintendent Eric Conti said in a statement: "The safety of our students and school community is our first priority. We take any potential threat extremely seriously."
