Deadline to Apply For Senior Clerk Position in Burlington is Dec. 11

The Town of Burlington is accepting applications for the position of Senior Clerk. The deadline to apply for this position is by noon Dec. 11.

Senior Clerk repiorts to the Treasurer/Collector. This 35-hour position performs clerical support work within the Collector’s Office. Examples of work include:

• Receives and processes all payments for the town; answers questions on the phone and in person regarding motor vehicle and tax bills; enters payments and receipts.
• Provides customer service in person and over the phone.
• Assures accurate placement of monies collected and credits correct accounts within the Munis financial system. Processes vendor payments.
• Serves as courier for bank deposits and mail.
• Balances cash drawers assuring accuracy at the beginning and end of each day.
• Assists office staff as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma with minimum of three years’ experience in clerical and financial work.
• Superior and current computer skills, including record/database management and financial software.
• Superior financial skills; proficient using a calculator.
• Ability to learn specialized departmental software applications.
• Exceptional communication, organizational and customer service skills.
• Must be able to function effectively and efficiently in a multi-disciplined and dynamic work environment.
• Must maintain a high level of confidentiality.

This position is included within the Burlington Municipal Employees Association bargaining unit. Starting salary at Grade 5, Step I of the BMEA contract is $20.75 per hour plus benefits. This is a full-time position, 35-hours per week.
