Ex-Senator Marzilli Admits Probation Violation
Former Massachusetts State Senator James Marzilli pled guilty to a violation of his probation on Wednesday.

BURLINGTON, MA - Former State Senator James Marzilli plead guilty to a violation of his probation on Wednesday in Middlesex Superior Court Wednesday.
Marzilli admitted to a violation of his probation and was ordered to make a $1,000 donation to the Center for Hope and Healing in Lowell, according to the Middlesex Superior Court. Marzilli’s probation stemmed from a 2008 sexual harrassment case in Lowell.

The Embattled Ex-Senator was sentenced to three months in county jail and five months of probation.
Marzilli served as a state representative for 17 years and won a special election for a Senate seat in 2007 serving a district encompassing Woburn, Arlington, Burlington, Lexington and Billerica.

According to a report by the Lowell Sun, The probation violation stemmed from his decision to travel to Thailand for 11 days without permission. Marzilli was originally allowed to travel to Burma to volunteer teaching civics.
The former State Representative’s defense said that Marzilli traveled to Thailand to receive medical treatment not available in Burma, according to the Lowell Sun’s report.
Marzilli was also accused by the Burmese school of showing up to class intoxicated, and the school urged female students to stay away from him.
